ATSIMA has been working in collaboration with NSW AECG Inc and NSW Department of Education and have been running STEM and STEAM Youth Development Camps in 2018.
The camps teach Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths, (STEM) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) subjects through a cultural lens to inspire students.
The demand for the camps is high, often having 250 students applying for each workshop, with just 100 places available.
Students attending the camps learn their angles through the art of spear making, and aerodynamics by studying boomerangs and drones. They learn magnatism through storytelling and understand chemistry through bush medicine.
This video produced by the NSW AECG shows some highlights from the STEM Camp in April 2018, organised in collaboration with ATSIMA and the NSW Department of Education.
